COUNTERING ANTISEMITISM & IMPROVING COMMUNITY SECURITY

While Toronto remains home to one of the safest communities in the Jewish world, we are confronting an alarming rise in antisemitism. We’ve seen it in the streets. We’ve seen it on social media. We’ve seen it in mainstream institutions and culture. This is one of the most important battles of our Jewish generation. Your gift is the fuel for UJA’s comprehensive, community-wide mobilization against hate.

RECOVERY MEANS
EMPOWERING OUR COMMUNITY IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HATE

The Toronto Police Service’s annual hate crimes data has shown for years that we aren’t immune to antisemitism here in the GTA. In 2020, more than one-third of all hate crimes in Toronto were antisemitic in nature, a year when total hate crimes shot up by more than 50%.11

Physical security—and ensuring Jews can proudly and safely participate in Jewish life—is essential for our community to realize its full potential. This is why safeguarding our collective security and well-being in Canadian society is vital to preserving the fabric of our community. It ultimately empowers all that we do to enable Jewish life to thrive in the Greater Toronto Area.
